Since Casper made his entry, a PBAS-group has been made on facebook.
Even though I think it is great, to show some PBAS-related activity on your own hand, there is a number of issues which ought to be cleared about the facebook-group. Besides, I think there are many reasons to keep this website as the main means of communication.
The facebook group is made by Benny Larsen on his own initiative. As such he is also the administrator of the group, in charge of news, discription and alteration of these. However, he is not officially affiliated with the PBAS in any way, as he did not show up at the AGM.
Therefore, the best sollution is that he lends at least one - preferably two, the secretary and chairman - administrator rights, to ensure all necessary and relevant information will actually be posted there, and newsletters sent out to members of the group.
Finally, I think it would be unwise at best to give up the PBAS-homepage for any group or application on facebook or such places, of several reasons. 1. Not all who have access to the PBAS-forum are on facebook nor should they be encouraged to become so. 2. Too easily, people with nothing to do with the PBAS can monitor our activities, here I think of spammers and hackers. 3. Irrelevant information about the individual members is too easy to get at on facebook - risking to make debates personal and over-complete.
A group on facebook to distribute random information is actually a good idea. But facebook has its limitations and a whole lot of risks of misuses, therefore my scepticism.
Yours sincerely
Kaj Framke
Chairman.
